The café for contemporary art is an acclaimed cafe serving exceptional coffees (ranked among the Lower Mainland’s top 5 places for espresso-based drinks), and delicious food including a fine selection of baked goods, sandwiches, quiche and vegetarian soups all made in house daily. Through the community’s appreciation of these we take pride in making room for art and functioning as a lively centre for artistic production and exchange. With a 700 square foot gallery on-site we facilitate exhibitions by artists from here and overseas while introducing discussions about topics ranging from the function of art and the role of artists, to the possibilities of new media and collaboration, to the relationship between art finance and artistic production, to all manner of things brought up by the artists and curators of our exhibitions. We also host periodic literary readings, musical events, workshops, video screenings and performances.
